How does the banking concept of education inhibit the creative power of students? The ideology of oppression is everywhere in the world, but also in education! The banking concept of education oppresses the students’ critical thinking and inhibit their creative power. In schools and colleges teachers are the depositors and students are the depositories. In classrooms teachers don’t communicate with their students. Instead, students receive, memorize, and repeat this is the banking concept. Teachers in schools fill their students brains with information without making them think and they think instead of them. Teachers always think instead of their students they don’t communicate or talk they just listen and receive information. Without critical thinking, students won’t learn and they won’t develop they will be like machine that just memorize stuff to pass the course. Unfortunately, this concept is really common in education. Some teachers are really opinionated and don’t accept anyone who disagree with them. In classrooms everyone is learning not only the students! There’s a concept called “funds of knowledge” it means that the teachers can learn from their students life experiences to help them teach much better! What I mean is that students may have more experience with a thing more than the teacher so the student may help the teacher develop their ideas and concepts. All of this cannot happen if the banking concept is still a concept for teachers.
